Since 2009 I have proudly served in the State legislature first as a Representative and now as a State Senator for the Second Plymouth and Bristol District which includes Brockton and the towns of, Halifax, Hanover, Hanson, Plympton, Whitman, East Bridgewater, precincts 1 to 3 and Easton precincts 1 and 2. One of the greatest challenges is working to find the resources to meet the needs of the residents of mu district. I serve on the Ways and Means Committee where we address the funding requests for entire state budget.
In the spring of 2011, I became interested in the Brockton Area Arc’s involvement in the first “All Aboard The Arc!” initiative. That April I spent the day with The Arc as we traveled by bus from The Shaw’s Center in Brockton to the Hanover Theater in Worcester for the “All Aboard The Arc” signature event. I learned so much about The Arc that day and have been a willing listener and true supporter of The Arc ever since. I am so familiar with the demands that individuals and families face every day. For many years I have worked closely with Jay Lynch and his staff at The Brockton Area Arc to enhance the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
